Meteora, one of the most shocking monuments on the UNESCO list, known for their uniqueness and beauty, offer the visitor an unforgettable experience. Tour the wider area and discover places and traditions that will impress you. Try the local cuisine, which through flavors that come either from traditional Greek cuisine or from modern trends is sure to surprise your palate. Look for the small wineries of the area and taste the unique quality wines that conquer the world markets. With countless activities, the wider area definitely needs more than a day to discover it, so our office offers you tours with 1 or more nights and for which you can see further information below.

The 2-day, 1-night package starts at the Larissa train station in the center of Athens. There at 07.52 am the train to Kalambaka departs and you should be at the station at least half an hour earlier to follow the boarding process. Then and after arriving at around 12.05pm at Kalambakas train station our partner will be waiting for you to  take you to your hotel. At 16.15 our partners will pick you up from your hotel so you can start with Breathtaking Meteora sunset, an amazing sightseeing experience. After your tour is over and around 20.30 in the afternoon we will drive you to your hotel. The next day you can choose one of them Midnoon but fantastic Meteora Tour and Hiking in Meteora and which are included in the package price. After your activity is completed you will have free time to explore the city until 18.10 where you will meet one of our partners who will take you to Kalambakas Railway Station to board the return train to Athens.

The tour includes

  • In case of rain:
    This tour is not affected by rain. It stops only in extreme weather conditions such as heavy snowfall and in this case our office gives you the option to either choose another tour that is not affected by the weather, or to carry out the specific activity on another day, or to be refunded the amount of the reservation back.
  • Last minute bookings:
    We recommend that you make the reservation for the tour you are interested in at least a week in advance so that you have a better chance of finding empty seats. Last minute bookings are possible but you should keep in mind that there may not be any seats available.
  • Which monasteries do we visit?
    Choosing this tour you will see all 6 monasteries while visiting the interior of three. Usually we visit the monastery of Megalo Meteoros, Varlaam and Saint Stefanos but this changes due to the opening hours of the monasteries.
  • Pickup services
    Our office undertakes to pick you up and return you to your place from anywhere in Kalambaka or Kastraki (from hotels only). In case you live outside the city, for example in Trikala, then you should come from our office at the scheduled time to participate in the tour you have chosen.
  • If I'm staying at an Airbnb, where can they pick me up?
    We can pick you up from the Airbnb you are staying at. In this case, please contact us or include your phone number in your details so we can contact you.
  • Can I bring my luggage in your mini bus?
    Of course you can!
  • Is there a dress code for entering a monastery?
    Entering the monasteries requires a certain dress code. For women, it is forbidden to wear skirts above the knee, trousers, shorts, as well as sleeveless tops. For men, sleeveless tops and shorts above the knee are prohibited.
  • How many stairs does each monastery have?
    The Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos is connected by an accessible bridge, making it the most easily accessible monastery. The Holy Monastery of Rousanos, the Holy Monastery of Varlaam and the Holy Monastery of Agios Nikolaos of Anapaus have approximately 140 steps. Finally, the Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity and the Great Meteoron are the most difficult to reach monasteries, since their steps exceed 300.
  • How much is the entrance ticket to the monasteries?
    All monasteries have an entrance fee of €3, per person. Children up to 12 years old do not pay a ticket to the monasteries. The monasteries have no entrance.
  • Pickup from your place and your return there. Pickup and drop off at the train station.

  • Return ticket in economy class. For first class tickets upon consultation and at extra cost.

  • Your stay in a 3-star hotel with breakfast. There is also the option of 4-star accommodation upon consultation and at an extra cost.

  • Choice of tour package for day 2.

  • Our English speaking partner. Guided tours in other languages are available at an extra cost (France, Germany, Italian, Spanish, Russian)upon request.

  • Free bottle of water is provided free of charge during the tour.

  • Free wi-fi on the mini-bus.

  • All taxes and services are included in the price.

  • Is not included:

  • Transfer from and to your hotel in Athens

  • Entrance to the monasteries costs €3

  • Entrance to the Byzantine church costs €2

  • Certified guide for a guided tour inside the monasteries (provided at extra cost)

Cancellation policy

  • Free cancellation when made at least 48 hours before the start of the tour.

  • Unused tickets are considered as generated.
